This On-Demand WILL WRITING WORKSHOP ("WWW") was created primarily to:

1) take away the STIGMA associated with discussing our own Last Will and Testament;

2) explain the process of drafting a Will so that it doesn't seem as daunting as some may believe; and

3) provide a way to get a Will DONE without the expense of hiring an attorney to draft it for you. 

WORKSHOP SUMMARY:

For any estate plan to work, you must first GET STARTED! In this 75-minute workshop, you will learn common terminology and standard provisions that are typically used in writing Wills. We will also share some thought processes and practical solutions, learning from the mistakes of others, to ensure that your Will meets your needs and your family’s needs. You will leave this program understanding what is generally necessary to properly draft and execute your Will.

This Will Writing Workshop is divided into three bite-sized chunks for your viewing and writing convenience, with interactive questions throughout, as well as a “quiz” at the end of each video segment. Don’t worry though – if you pay attention, you will pass with flying colors!

This Workshop is intended to help you take those all important TANGIBLE steps toward getting your last wishes properly documented. We even provide a starting document template! So at the conclusion of the Workshop, if you follow along with the template as instructed, you will have a draft of your Last Will and Testament.

• Why a “Title Page” is important
• Properly identifying immediate family members
• Terminology…and what is that “per stirpes” thing?

 Part 2 (~ 26 minutes):

• A Rose By Any Other Name – “key” players in your estate plan
• Bond…James Bond – No bond required provision
• Order of estate distributions
• Types of estate administration expenses
• Joint-tenancy as a way to avoid Probate?

 Part 3 (~27 minutes):

• Distribution of estate assets
• The Leftovers - defining your residuary estate 
• Estate administration – Executor’s powers
• Your digital life
• Other stuff (Beneficial Interests, No Contest Provision, Governing Law…)
• The execution of Your Will – proper witnesses & Testamentary Affidavit

Please note that the provisions and execution requirements discussed during this Workshop will be specific to the rules of the state of Georgia, although most of what is discussed can be applied across jurisdictions. Of course, if you reside outside of Georgia, you are still welcome to participate. The important thing is that you get STARTED on writing your Will. Then check with your specific jurisdiction on what other requirements are necessary in order to make sure your Will is valid in your state of residence.
